About

Sibel Açıkalın Akgün is an illustrator and sculptor based in Istanbul.

She holds an MFA from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and a BA from Anadolu University. Over two decades she has worked across both disciplines — from character-driven illustration for children's books, editorial and brand projects to sculptural work shown in exhibitions. Her illustration has appeared in SilverKris, the inflight magazine of Singapore Airlines, a Wikipedia commission, and campaigns through agencies such as TBWA and Tribal Istanbul for clients including ING, Aksigorta and Arzum. Her freelance work has also included illustration for the animation studio Anima Istanbul. Alongside commissioned projects, she maintains a personal practice in drawing and sculpture.
